Tricks to get your makeup to last all day long

Every morning you leave home perfectly made up but in just a few hours there’s no trace of it left. Although it’s true that how long makeup lasts depends greatly on your skin type, there are a series of tricks that can help you keep it in place for longer.  Eyeliner which ends up looking like panda bear eyes, makeup base which magically disappears, lipstick that ends up cracking or smudging and eyeshadow that gathers in the creases. Makeup can play some cruel tricks on you if it’s not applied correctly or you don’t use quality products. How can you avoid these beauty disasters and ensure your look stays in place over the course of the day? Read on. Moisturize, moisturize moisturize Here is the key. Before applying base, clean your skin well and apply a moisturizer that suits your skin type. If your skin’s needs are not covered by your moisturizer it will try and get what it needs from any product you put on it and your face will absorb your makeup as if it were a moisturizing cream, leaving little left in a few hours. If your skin feels dry then use a primer or pre-base first before applying your makeup base so that if your skin does absorb product, your base will remain in tact. Correct application Smooth the makeup base carefully all over your face, without leaving any area uncovered. Use a little more on the nose and chin which tend to look shiny. In terms of makeup, remember the saying the “less is more”. If you apply more base than your skin needs, your pores will gradually push it out. To seal the base, you can gently press it with a tissue, apply translucent powder or spritz with thermal spring water.   For the eye contour, we recommend correcting dark circles and camouflaging expression lines. This should always be done before applying makeup. If you don’t need to correct too much, but you’re looking to illuminate and brighten up your eyes, then you’re better off applying it over makeup and sealing with translucent powder to prevent it cracking over the day. Eyeshadow Just like with the base, if we use too much product we can lose color intensity and evenness. A tip you should bear in mind is that eyelids are one of the face’s most oily parts, so a base applied to your eyelids before eyeshadow will make color last longer and improve the finished effect. Long-lasting lipstick Before applying lipstick use a hydrating balsam or primer. Apply a few minutes before, while you finish off your look, to give it time to absorb. When it’s time to do your lips, remove any excess vaseline with a tissue and apply your lipstick. Another tip is to draw your lip outline in a color tone that’s similar to your lip color and after applying lipstick seal the color by blotting with a tissue and dusting with some translucent powder.
